I've just been wearing typical activewear while going hunting but get scratched up and am now looking for something more plant-proof.
Looking around I mostly see people talking about warmth and insulation but I haven't been out below 30 and probably won't in the near future. A pair of joggers over thermals and an extra pair of socks would keep me plenty warm.

Anyone have any recommendations for rubber boots and briar pants that work well for your typical California upland hunt?
Weather in the 40s-60s, usually 5-10 miles in a day. So it has to be comfortable too. I know leather is the usual go-to but I haven't had too much luck with those and want to try rubber.

I have used Lacrosse rubber boots for years in all terrains. The Air Bob Burleys are a great choice.

I hike through thick, thorny vines and thorny mesquite trees. I wear Carhartt Double Front Work pants with pockets for knee pads. Their pretty damned tough and I can get through most anything. I always wear tall snake boots for added protection for my legs and in case I ever have a hog go after me. The boots are Irish Setter Vapr Trek. Boots last me a couple of years at best.

How is the waterproofing on the Vaprtrek? Leather rubs me the wrong way in the places that don't break in much, and the Vaprtreks were very comfortable when I tried them. But I read the waterproofing and construction left a lot to be desired.

I try not to submerge them for very long if I’m crossing a small creek. They will keep the water out if you quickly step in water and back out. I‘ve had a couple of pairs of Rocky Snake Boots with the side zipper. The vaprtrek has better waterproofing and has not broken down, yet, like the rocky’s do. I’d give a C rating for the Rocky’s a B for the vaprtrek.
