Wildlife Conservation Board Funds Environmental Improvement And Acquisition Projects

The California Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) today approved more than $30 million in funding to help restore and protect wildlife habitat throughout the state. The 23 projects will provide benefits to fish and wildlife species, including some endangered species, as well as increase public access to these lands. The funding for these projects comes from recent bond initiatives approved by the voters to help preserve and protect California's natural resources.

Some of the projects funded at today's WCB meeting include:
• Truckee Basin/Perazzo Meadows, Sierra County, $765,000
• Elkhorn Basin Ranch, Yolo County, $3,780,000
• Watsonville Slough Conservation Area, Santa Cruz County, $5,510,500
• Midland School Oak Woodlands Conservation Easement, Santa Barbara County, $4,155,000
• East Merced Vernal Pool Grassland Preserve, Merced County, $4,400,000
• Upper Newport Bay Ecosystem Restoration, Orange County, $2,000,000
• Mill Creek Watershed Restoration, Del Norte County, $2,869,000
• Dry Creek Oak Woodland Corridor, Yolo County, $295,000
• Shaver Lake Boat Launch, Fresno County, $156,000
