Can anyone identify this poop?

Hi all,

While hiking around Ventana Wilderness, found a lot of poop that looked like this. It looks like built up layers of flat poop.

Can anyone identify which animal it came from?

Sure looks like cow to me too.


If a good guess is going to be made from a pic it would be better if people would include something for scale, and maybe take a couple of pics from a lower angle.

Thanks for the advice. It's a pic from a year ago, when I go back this year I'll make sure to get some better shots.

The funny thing is, it also reminds me of cow poop, but the trail was somewhat rugged and remote, going across creeks and streams. Couldn't imagine cows accessing that without a lot of help, but there was mudpies like that all over.

I was up in Lucerne valley a couple weeks ago looking for quail/chukar and was hiking up this rocky ravine and there was cow poop all the way up. It was a gnarly hike and the whole time I'm thinking why the F are cows goin up here? There was nothing up at the top except more cow poop
