buck now thats not funny just i shoot wheels and your all the non wheel shooters lol im not going to bring up any dirt but we might have to get the traininwheelers and the trad boys together at the gate and maybe put a little friendly bet together lol to see how the boys and the men do I WILL SAY THIS IF I HAVE A SHOT THERE WILL BE A DEAD HOG AT THE END OF MY HUNT and the way calhunter is hittin he will have a hog on ice all we need is a hog to show the masses what we can do lol its all in good fun and hunting
I'm on the wheel side of the fence... most of the guys here at the local club shoot traditional, might have to dabble...and in wyoming they call using a cross bow archery, prettyy much using a rifle is standard fare in WY, so the woods are empty in September.
I can kill with that also .. lol sacfire will give me props on the crossbow deal .. he shot it at the lake and kinda liked it lol .. can we bring that?lol kidding chopper
Just dont forget your release our your range finder and i hope there is enough light to see you sight pins and i hope the rubber tubing for your rest or peep sight does not break and and and.....
Just kidding. I shot wheels for 18 years or so. Cant wait to hunt with you guys again its going to be a blast
pops i was givin you props .. hard times buddy i tell you what i will go out the first night with no release and no range finder .. and if there is a hog within 40 yrds i will have it hagin and we be drinkin .. i have been shooting with and without my gear ... I need a hog to prove my trainin lol im very ready to kill and you can take some stuff away from me and i will still kill . if a hog is in my zone ... bring me a bow and the sec night i will shoot it and kill . if a hog is in the 20 yrd zone lol ..
Ya the skleton does not qoite fit the size of hog it is placed on. but does give you an idea how tight up front the vitals are as compaired to deer and such.
Been away couple days, Ok looks like my Card got hit for Cal liscense and Pig tag. Food looks like all taken care of, I was hoping to make some Javelina BBQ sandwiches but I will save that for another time I suppose. Question to anyone who can answer, I know we can get 2 pigs, however at this point I only bought 1 tag. Is there somewhere close to where we will be where another tag can be purchased if I need it?
rhanney
chops is about a 40 minute drive to get another tag it can be done but its your ime wasted driving insead of hunting,3 guys in 3 years killed 2 pigs in the same trip, but you never know.
Thanks PIGIG, being out of state and $55 a pop and not being sure if I can make it back over again this year I might just go with the 1 tag. If lucky enough and time available I will do the drive. Ron
Ok, now that I have my tag questions worked out next question for you guys who have been to Chopper, Is this a primarily spot and stalk kind of hunt or glassing, some of both? What kind of terrain we talking about real open? brushy? Forest? Lots of hills or flat? Just trying to get an idea on what to expect. Thanks.
Rhaney, Chopper's place is mainly spot and stalk with lots of opportunities to glass the hill sides. The middle of the ranch is open with rolling oaks and the surrounding area get's thicker and more hilly. The topography can change every few hundred yards which gives the pigs plenty of bedding areas and feeding areas. You'll see plenty of sign and locating them will be the fun part.
