Me and the boys managed a few. I think the sit and hold tight genetics have been shot out, cause they seem to be getting harder each year!

They are hard to hit, but harder to retrieve. Without a dog it's really hard.

Nice shooting! :smiley_green_with_e that is late season hunting. Only the smart birds are left and they don't like to hold. went for 4 hours today 13 hens and 2 roosters both roosters flushed at 65+ yards.

Nice bunch of birds, In South Dakota we call them "Ditch Parrots"
Over the last 30 years we sure have seen them change from a waiting to flush bird to a olympic running bird, Hunting without dogs now is tough.
Late season birds are just plain tough no matter what.

Looks like a great day! As frustrating as it can be I love hunting pheasants in the later part of the year.

So did your season go this year. The number in SD was way down but we still manged to get 54 birds in 4 days with 6 guys, The amount of birds was about half of what it was before the winter last year took it toll, followed by a wet spring that took out alot of nests and chicks.
Hope this winter is a mild one or the birds could be in trouble again. The area's that Pro pheasant turned loose those hens you sure could tell, those areas had alot more birds in them.
