We had a great morning again today. Wife had five to go so we went out for the evening . Had some thunderstorms today and the birds never flew. Still a great day. The mourning dove were dying to get in to the decoys this morning. My brother ran into a big rattler while looking for a bird this morning. I was looking hard. Dumped a couple in some deep grass as well.

The number of hunters seem to be less this year. Especially with the opener being on a holiday.

Where did everyone end up for opening day

Our Chef used an Air Fryer to cook the Birdees,

COOKING IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED HOTEL ROOM WAS MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE

Our group was in BLYTHE

Hey fellas,
Went out for the first time to the i.v. area (second dove trip ever)on a solo mission today. I was able to actually identify and hit a couple of birds much to my suprise being a rookie. Heard how fast they fly and man... I didn't really get it since my first trip every bird i saw was I really couldn't identify the species and got rained out after about an hour. I was so nervous to shoot something that wasn't a dove.. leaned on the internet and learned alot. Most definitely found my new past time. Wasn't the opener but I was close...maybe next year.

That’s what it is all about. Having fun in the outdoors. Everything has a learning curve and kudos to you for being careful to not pull the trigger on anything that flies. That’s what makes a sportsman a sportsman. We all hope you get to hit an opener, nothing quite like it, although it’s not always the best hunting. Great pictures and continue to enjoy what others live and enjoy.

Way to go rjonly. That’s two more dove than my first time. I once dropped my truck keys out in a field, no spare and didn’t find them. Great pictures.
