I have taken several antelope with a bow, none using an antelope decoy.  I have heard it can be exciting plan to try it this year but I have several questions about any of your experiences:

1)  Is it more common or effective to use one lone male decoy, or a pair (male and female) after sneaking in on a buck?  IS there any consensus?

2)  Does the period of the hunt matter that much- do antelope have to be in full rut for decoy hunting to work?

3) What is the preferred decoy brand -Flambeau, Dutton, other?

Thanks,

SLO

I have not done this either, but read what seemed like a good article by Bob Robb.  He spoke of using one Buck decoy and a call.  He spoke of being ready to shoot quick, you only get one chance.  He mentioned a few brands, one was Montanan or something like that, and the two you mentioned.  He did not talk about only doing this during rut, but I suspect that would be the ultimate time a buck decoy would work.........

Slobow, I would like to hear some of your successful antelope hunts.  I'm particularly interested in which states you have hunted.  Getting tags is very hard in some states, over the counter in others, but success is even harder.
Just curious - does the handle (slobow) indicate anything, traditional perhaps?
