thanks for those corn tips, I spent a ton of time searching the corn on my first 3 hunts I'm gonna take your advice and wait on it, spend some more time in other likely spotsOriginally posted by deershed@Feb 16 2005, 08:48 PM
Thanks everyone!!
INshedpicker-I try to stay away from the corn stubble and thankfully there's not too many in my areas. If it wasn't for me wanting a few certain sheds I thought might be in the corn I'd have stayed clear til later.
Looking in corn I like to wait til late season when I know all the buck have dropped.
The best way I like to search corn is to take a few rows on each side of me and walk the row out. When I get to the end I move over a few rows and do it over again.
Depending how thick the stubble is or how good I'd like to search the corn, dictates how many rows I search on a pass. The more rows to watch on each side the slower the walking is,but then there's more walking to walk with less on each side.
Searching corn is slow and time consuming which is why I wait and cover the corn only once after I know all have dropped.
No matter how you search corn it's a pain in the butt.
