Great stuff.Awesome blade looking feature.I'm getting a few oldies myself this year but they can't be sneezed at.They are often a reminder that their is allways something out their waiting to be found even if it isn't quite fresh.

Dang man I dont think I have found 116 total. Awesome work. Keep at it.

I dont mind finding the old ones. I like to clean them and smooth them up a bit with sandpaper if needed. I dont know why but its kinda fun. My sheds arent normally chewed on though just light cracking.

In the off season I plan trying my hand at antler repair.I've got some old skulls too I'd like to clean up and bring back to life.Fix some minor chews then put some color back in the antlers.
I made another trip today,I went to a spot I saw 5 nice buck and some smaller spikes and scrub buck.I made to hike back in to the hot area here and bumped 4 nice buck still packing both sides. It's been in the 60's or hotter for the last couple weeks so green-up is just around the corner and alot of buck are still carrying.I saw another monster buck at my second spot for the day carrying both sides too.
After seeing the buck still carrying I headed out of that area on foot doing a little in season scouting.lol Not much came out of the walk so I headed for the jeep and went to spot #2 for the day.

They're not very good pics, but these were of the buck today.I wish I could have got some pics of the monster from the second area.

In the second area I searched today I'd been looking for about an hour when I almost stepped on this one.A little Y shed.

Shed29.jpg

Shed29-2.jpg

My next find was also a fresh drop and another Y shed, but smaller.

Shed30.jpg

Shed30-3.jpg

There was alot of walking before my next find.I walked the entire lenght of this area which I'd say is about 3 miles from one end to the other. It was around 3:00 and I'd been looking since 9:00 and was at the far end of this property when a stick caught me square in the eye.My eye was shut so it's not like it poked my eye,but did it hurt. For about a half hour I couldn't even open that eye b/c it burned then after the burning stopped it wouldn't quit watering.Everything was blurry out of that eye for about an hour.

Watery eye and all I didn't have any trouble spotting this next antler.I actually got ground shrinkage on this one when I walked over to it.I spooted it from about 50yds. away and thought it was a bigger antler then what it was.Still it was a nice antler.

Shed31.jpg

Shed31-4.jpg

After finding this last antler I saw a monster buck still carrying both sides. It was getting late so I worked my way back to the jeep to call it a day.

Wow I can't believe how many bucks are still holding in your area....most have dropped around here with just a few odd balls still carrying. That knife blade shed is awesome! I love them unique ones. Congrats on all of your finds and I hope your eye is all right.

Other then a watery eye the rest of the day and that night the eye is fine.I actually did a little local shedding the next day.
I made another trip yesterday and after a slow start the day ended pretty good.I looked for a couple hours not finding anything and things not looking good that I would when I spotted a matched set.
Just before I spotted the set I saw a buck that had dropped one side.Thinking I might find the missing shed to that buck I started making a few passes thur the area. When I first spotted tines I thought I'd found it then realized there were 2 antlers laying together. My first set of the year laying together.

Sorry for all the pics of the set,I think sets laying together are the BEST.Other then a monster antler which I don't find enough of anyway, sets laying together get me fired up more then anything else.
After giving the rest of the area a good search for any more antlers I moved on.I headed towards another patch of woods across a empty crop field.I no sooner entered the woods and found a fresh spike antler laying in a trail. This antler had a little piece of extra skull and if you look at the second pic,the tip of the antler was stuck in the ground.Looks like the buck stumbled and that little extra force when he hit the ground helped him loose this antler??

Shed34-2.jpg

Shed34-3.jpg

Feeling pretty good about my finds and time running out I started heading out.I wasn't 200yds. from the jeep coming in from a different direction when I spotted tines one more time. What a way to end the day.I think this antler came from the buck I saw earlier that only had one side.

I made another trip yesterday adding a few more sheds to the pile.My finds yesterday were 2 old and a little fresh one. I was starting down the road heading home when I saw a buck still carrying one side too My first find was one of the old ones, just a little spike with a brow tine.

Shed36.jpg

It was a couple hours later heading out of this area that I spotted my next find half buried in the grass.

Shed37.jpg

After my last find I was calling it a day and in the jeep headed home. That's when I spotted this guy feeding with some does.I thought about searching this area earlier and gave up on that thought til I saw this buck. The deer like to hang here so it's always a possibility. I parked and no sooner got back to where the deer were feeding when another shedhunter came walking up the hill behind where the deer were feeding. He was shedless for the day and after the 2 of us searched this area it didn't change.

After checking this small block of woods out the other shedhunter left and I extended my search out further.I didn't find a shed off the buck with one side, but did manage to find a small fresh 3pt. side.

I was back at it again today for the second half of the day.Found another 4 sheds,2 old and 2 fresh. My first find only took about an hour today and I really thought it was the start of a good day.I should have found more fresh sheds in this area?? A nice fresh 4pt. side to start the day off.I spotted this one from about 75yds. away. Those white tines really stood out in the brown leaf matter.

While making a few passes across the hillside I spotted this one.

Shed40-2.jpg

Things got slow for awhile before I almost stepped on my next one.Talk about laying awhile.

Shed41.jpg

Another long slow period before I crested a small hill and up on the flat I spot my last one for the day.

Shed42.jpg

I also found a half decent turtle shell and I got a pic of a spike I found earlier in the year. Here's a pic of all my finds for the day.

Sheds39-40-41-42.jpg

Almost forgot-for those that remember the big set I found on a shed hunt from a different site.On the shed hunt nobody found any more sheds off that same buck. Well,I'm still trying to get the details, but one of that same buck's sheds was found. It wasn't the day of the shed hunt and I'm still not sure exactly where it was found. Last year the same side scored 83 1/8" this year's shed scored around 82 4/8's".

Here's this years shed.

Congrats on your days finds! I don't know about my ATL's putting yours to shame, that first pic is a great one that really shows the type of woods that you get to walk in. I'm surprised that that big 10 point didn't start growing some junk if he's reached his peak. Man I could never get tired of fondling and staring at that set that you found last year....they are truly picture perfect.

Kurtish I think your pictures are AWESOME!!

I'm not sure how accurate the guy measured that single he found this year.He said he came up with 82 4/8's,that same side last year scored 83 1/8".

This morning a made a trip to my regular shedding grounds.I found a small fresh Y and found an old dead 9pt.This one might be good for practice for an antler repair job.

Dead_9pt_3.jpg

dead_9pt_2.jpg

In the area I was seeing my big 8 for weeks along with a half dozen other buck.I've only found 4 fresh sheds so far in this area, one being today.I haven't seen any buck carrying in there since those last pics I posted when the big 8 and little 10 both still had both sides and the little 8 only had one side.I haven't been seeing the numbers of deer lately either like I was earlier.I've searched out from the area they were using regular in all possible directions and I'm coming up empty on sheds and the big deer numbers.I have no clue where these deer went.
Today I was back in that area and I find a fresh drop. It's only a small Y,but where it was found I know for a fact it wasn't there my last trip in there.Where was this deer and where are the other buck that were in there too????The deer I am seeing in this area I'm getting a good look at them and I'm not seeing shed out buck??It's been a bad year.......

Anyway,I no sooner entered the hot area where the big 8 hung out when I spotted the little Y shed.I've got some pics of this little guy while he was carrying,I saw him alot.

After finding that shed I searched the entire area for the next couple hours coming up empty.I told Stacy I'd make it a short day b/c he wanted to do some fishing so after this area I headed home.
After I got home Stacy and I went out to my Dads to do some fishing in his pond. Our plan was to fish a while then hop on the 4 wheeler and search the cut corn field for the mate to the shed we found a few weeks earlier out there.
The fishing wasn't too bad with us catching a even dozen crappie all 9 to 10" long.
On the 4 wheeler Stacy sat on the front and was to watch the rows to the right,I'd watch the rows to the left. After covering the first field in 4 passes and nothing. We were half way thur our third pass in the second field when Stacy started pointing and saying something.I stopped not knowing what was up when he said,"watch out for the ground hog hole. When I looked forward again to start going I spotted the missing shed we were looking for laying in our path straight a head. That was one Awesome sight!!They were the first sheds I ever found at my Dads place and now we had the matching set.

Here's both sheds for the day.

Sheds4344.jpg

And here's the shed from today and it's mate found earlier in the year.

We only had Stacy's camera with us,that's why the date on the 2 pics.
