Department of Fish and Game Arrests Another 12 in Sturgeon Poaching Investigation, Bringing the Total to 22

Contact: Steve Martarano, DFG Information Officer, (916) 654-5866

SACRAMENTO - Department of Fish and Game (DFG) officers arrested an additional 12 suspects early Thursday relating to a two-year joint federal and state investigation into a network of Sacramento-area sturgeon poachers.

Thursday's arrests come on the heels of the May 9 operation, dubbed Delta Beluga, in which DFG made a total of 10 arrests. Eight of those were allegedly involved in the poaching operation, and the others were taken on outstanding warrants (the DFG news releases from May 9 can be found at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/news/news03/index.html).
All of Friday's arrests came because of information received by the DFG during May 9 suspect interviews and later surveillance activities, DFG officials said. The suspects were all booked into Sacramento or Merced county jails.

Those arrested Friday include: Ker Vue, 31, Sacramento; Cheng Vang, 25, Merced; Tong Vang, 29, Sacramento; Lor Her, 32, Sacramento; Yelina Petrishina, 53, Rancho Cordova; Andrew Thao, 30, Sacramento; Kaofey Saechao, 23, Sacramento; Ludmila Svanyuta, 34, Davis; Joua T. Lo, 53, Sacramento; Cheng Xiong, 37, Sacramento; Viktor Flek, 44, Citrus Heights; and Tatyana Bak, 43, Citrus Heights. All of Friday's suspects will be charged with misdemeanor conspiracy to buy or sell sturgeon or sturgeon parts. A suspect convicted of misdemeanor conspiracy to illegally take sturgeon is subject to a maximum fine of $10,000 and one year in county jail.

The investigation is ongoing, the DFG said.
