DIAMOND VALLEY LAKE: The new reservoir in western Riverside County, Diamond Valley Lake, is tentatively scheduled to open to anglers on or around Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1). It will have the most spectacular bass and trout fishing of any Southern California lake, according to survey work done by the Department of Fish and Game. The bass will average three- to five-pounds and the trout will mostly be over two pounds with some much bigger. Stay tuned. I promise to keep you updated.
