The piglets will probably not make it more then a couple days before they become part of the food chain for coyotes, bobcats, or mountain lions.
But we can't argue depredication with someone who sets live traps for mice in his house so they can be released to go inhabit someone else's house.

Mice and rats are vermin and as such carry a lot of potential diseases......They are pests and that is why we have pest control as a booming business. The goobermint does not protect these vermin, but rather spends millions to control if not eradicate these pests.
I seriously find it odd that sentiments are extended to vermin that carry a lot of diseases. It seems very out of place and misguided. As Bishop has very well put it.......
releasing those mice is VERY INCONSIDERATE to the neighbors. I hope this does not drag into an endless discussion on sentiments for vermin. 'Nuff said.

We can certainly hope so. I personally would not be comfortable pinning my hopes on this probably happening.

1. I live in the country, surrounded by hundreds of acres of wheat fields. I have no neighbors.
2. Actually, I release these mice forty five miles away from my house in my hunting country. There isn't a house for twenty miles.

Mice and rats are, as we all know are potentially disease carrying vermin. I respect your odd sentiments, but in my humble opinion, plug those vermin with an air rifle or a .22 anyway, EVERY TIME. My last post on this odd subject, gentlemen. 'Nuff said.

larry,

Do you kill every rattlesnake you encounter as well?

Rattlesnakes are not vermin. I wear snake proof chaps everytime, all the time, summer, winter, spring or fall. I have learned a lot from this JHO website that snakes are very good at catching and eating rodents(mice and rats) and that is why I will not shoot rattlesnakes anymore. They are helpful in controlling mice and rats and since I always wear snakeproof chaps, I can forgive their presence and just move myself away a little farther. 'Nuff said.

It sounds wierd but I'd have no trouble shooting a mouse with my .22, but when one was caught in the sticky tape trap and I had to smash it with a hammer so it wouldn't suffer, I had a hard time.
