Well, such a deal we have for you folks. We've put together free lodging for the New Year's weekend hunt from Dee Dee at the new Bryson Hesperia Resort right outside the south end of the fort. That's right, I said free lodging for the first 40 to call and make their free ressie. Free for the whole 3 day weekend for a brand new cabin with kitchen. Just make sure you mention you're coming for the 1st annual JHO FHL hog, upland & varmint hunt & BBQ.

Hunt days are Saturday Dec 30 through Monday Jan 1 2007. You can show up anytime in that time period to hunt, fish or just hang out and enjoy the resort.

More info can be found here.

Bryson Hesperia Resort
75364 Bryson Hesperia Road
Bradley, CA 93426

Phone Number: (805) 472-2922
Fax Number: (805) 472-2843
Reservations Email: reservations@brysonresort.com
General Inquiry Email: info@brysonresort.com

To also sweeten the pot we're going to have a BBQ and raffle Saturday at noon at the resort with some guest speakers like local hog guide Nessen Schmidt, John Foster the local DFG warden and some others. A private land hog hunt and turkey hunt in the area will be some of the raffle items. This is pig and turkey central so that is worth the drive only right there even if you dont want to hunt the fort that weekend

For hunting on the fort there is varmints like coyotes and bobcats open, FHL is probably the best bobcat area I've seen in CA, waterfowl in the ponds and lakes, hog hunting and some of the best quail hunting you can find in CA. FHL reminds me of the Tejon ranch for it's vastness and abundance of game. You can also hunt rabbits and tree squirrels here or fish the local lakes or the ponds on the fort too.

If you want to hunt the fort you need to mail in your hunt app and money order ASAP for the app. It's $75 for an annual pass or $25 for a weekend. Civilians can hunt on the fort.

You can download the hunt app here and find more info on the fort too

Rats! I am going chukar hunting in SoCal during the break, otherwise I'd love to come! I love bird hunting, except that you don't end up with 100 pounds of meat!

Anyone can get a room Rich. Civies can hunt the fort too. It's all wide open and some of the best hunting I've had out here in CA.

I was just thinking, for those who are bringing our wives and girlfriends, it might be nice to look into some local shopping, and dining they can do in the day while were out hunting, give them some time to bond, and make it fun.

I just emailed Bryson Resort, I'm in.

This will be my first FHL hunt, if there is any knowledge to pass, I'm very open to receiving....

I'm in, along with brother, two nephews, brother's wife and a girlfriend and perhaps a partridge in a pear tree. Looking forward to meeting fellow JHO's and having a fun weekend. By the way, I saw the location of the cabins, but does anyone know the driving distance from the cabins to the entrance of FHL....?

This'll be a decent drive for me and I'd like to take my car rather than my Jeep. Will I be able to drive the car and get to a trail head for walking in?
