So I just got my hunters license a few weeks ago with my dad, (been years that we've been trying to get it but finally put it into action) anyway we are looking to go on out first hunting trip this weekend, we live in riverside and are looking to start with a day trip somewhere semi-local, 2-2.5hr drive max, I read Juniper Flats or Cayote Flats south of victorville was good but that post was from 2004 so not sure if its still a hot spot? Not asking for anyone's "secret spots" just a general area where I can spend sometime hunting with my dad and hopefully get some jacks or cotton tail. We're probably going to be using .22lr, my dad has a .223 but I hear that caliber is too heavy?

Also what are some good areas for wild bore? (we buy a hog and eat it for Christmas every year but itd be pretty cool if we hunted our own this year)

any advice would be appreciated, Thanks in advance!
