• DELTA/SACRAMENTO RIVER side - The Rio Vista Bait Shop reported another good week of striper fishing for bank anglers at Sherman Island. They had
success using fresh shad and bloodworms, and found lots of fish to almost 20 pounds. Trollers working around the Isleton and west bank area found fair results on Yo-Zuris and P-Line Predators. The bass bite was slow for both numbers and size. Drop-shotting 6-inch Senkos or RoboWorms MMIII is a good bet.• DELTA/SAN JOAQUIN RIVER side - Reporting for the Outdoor Sportsman in Stockton, Chris Chaing said striper action picked up in Frank's and Mildred sloughs as well as Whiskey Slough and around Highway 12. Chartreuse-colored, shallow-diving Yo-Zuris on the incoming tide are his recommendation.• SACRAMENTO RIVER, Knight's Landing - This stretch of river all the way to Tisdale was where the best striper action seemed to occur. There weren't many fish over 10 pounds caught last week, but anglers tossing big streamers were still managing a half-dozen or more striped bass per outing from 3 to 10 pounds, plus the occasional 15-pounder. Big streamer flies were still accounting for most of the fish.• KLAMATH RIVER, Klamath Glen--Good numbers of salmon--mostly jacks still--and lots of competition are what visiting anglers can expect. There are big lines at the boat ramps and big lines to drop into productive holes. However, the fish are bright and feisty, albeit mostly small. Commercial netting has ended, and subsistence nets still in the river are letting more fish through. Boondoggled and drifted roe are the ways to go for numbers, Gold Kastmasters for larger adults. Crowds are big at the mouth, too. Most anglers are beading. Ed Dillard, with Dillard's Guided Fishing in Beckwourth, said trolling Dick Nite copper redheads and green woolly buggers has been working well. Many fish running up to 2 pounds. Free fishing clinic set for Saturday, Sept.27. No license required and tackle loaned to those who need it.• BODEGA BAY-- Limits of rockfish are still the norm, with a handful of lingcod showing on most trips, but only a few. Boats are still reporting the same good action at the spots north and south of the harbor. Crab season opens Nov. 1, and most sportfishing boats will be running combo trips.
