I drew a #7 reservation @ Gray Lodge on Sunday (10/19). Any tips? In my internet reading, it looks like it is all free roam with a bunch of hunters clogging the west portion of the refugee.

Let me know your thoughts. Any info is appreciated.

It's nice you got a rese. Great refuge . Its likely to be a sheeetshow on Saturday. Especially if the govt shutdown keeps the Sac nwr complex closed! Definitely plan a route with a few spots to look at , grab the first one and have a big headlamp. Let the flashlight wars begin. Go light and fast. Ill be lottery hunting somewhere . If I'm lucky! Good luck

Oh I just noticed it's for Sunday. Sleep in! Jk. I have a good one for Sunday as well. It's not near as much competition and usually much less shooting as well. Dang birds get smart fast .

honestly one of my favorites......one of my sons takes after all his creole relatives...he LOVES coots, has a bunch of different recipes fer em.....

mendota has allways been my backup if i dont get drawn....lots of places to go....and honestly usually if i dont get drawn i just do an evening hunt, some days i kill more ducks in the evening than i do in the morning......i ended with a volta draw, so should be good, my number is 1.....its free roam though and my kid thats going is younger so still will have to have backup sites.....all the other kids have stuff going on that day...

I don't hunt it that often . but I've definitely seen worse. Last time I was there hunted a disc spot that was pretty bad
