Grunion spawn on all of Southern California's long, sandy beaches from early March through mid-August each year. The second and third nights of the run usually have the most activity and the second hour of the run is usually the best. The next runs will be June 1-4, June 16-19, July 1-4, and July 15-18.
Estimated times for the Jun 1-4 run are: Sunday, June 1, 10:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m., Monday, June 2, 10:45 p.m. to 12:45 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 11:25 p.m. to 1:25 a.m., Wednesday, June 4 (actual date of run is Thursday, June 5), 12:10 a.m. to 2:10 a.m.
Estimated times for the June 16-19 run are: Monday, June 16, 11:15 p.m. to 1:15 a.m., Tuesday, June 17 (actual date of run is Wednesday, June 18), 12:05 a.m. to 2:05 a.m., Wednesday, June 18 (actual date of run is Thursday, June 19), 1 a.m. to 3 a.m., Thursday, June 19 (actual date of run is Friday, June 20), 2:05 a.m. to 4:05 a.m.
