Highland springs

Has anyone ever hunted highland springs recreation area or applied to hunt it? Hard to find much info on it.

Yes, You have to get a permit to hunt it and there is not very much land. A lot of private stuff mixed in with the stuff you can hunt. Just spent the last two weeks scouting and saw 26 does and 2 spikes. No bucks that I could see.

I have been there many times and never taken a deer. Gates are not open very early and close early in the evening also.

About the same here i was out for the opener saw a guy shoot a forky and that was it every time i have been out same luck lot's of does and maybe the same two spikes. I got to within 30 yards to one of the spikes hoping it had a kicker but no luck. Good luck everyone.
