Nothing wrong with the video or the way they hunted them in my opinion. The rifle was most likely a semi auto 30-06. I'm sure some of them were harvested. I certainly wouldn’t mind the military getting some practice on a nuisance, but I highly doubt that was the case here.

That picture is absolutely amazing!!! The destruction is awesome. Remember, there is a lot of rainfall in big parts of Texas & the ground is much softer than in drought plagued California. At my friend's hayfield in Houston, Texas the big pigs had bulldozed the hayfield & all you see is a blanket of the exposed dark soil that is so big, it shocked me!!! It did not come out as patchy chunks of destruction as it is on that picture, but rather really like a bulldozer blade had scraped the hayfield evenly. It was shocking to stand there & realize how much destructive power these 3 ft. tall animals have. It must drive those Houston peanut farmers insane from the horrendous losses. I don't blame these Texas folks at all except for not inviting me/us to the depredation derby-B-QUE!!!! Come on Texan JHO'ers, if we get invited to the shoot fest we promise not to waste any meat. Thanks.

but larrysogla put it more succintly. indeed why not invite hunters to do it -- even for a small fee.

oftentimes there are more wisdom and creative ways to do things and still arrive at similar objective.

the biggest obstacle is always sloth -- and, duh!

Why not? Because recreational hunters are not going to be nearly as effective for the most part. If you need significant results in the shortest amount of time, guys walking around with binoculars and scoped rifles are not going to be the optimal solution.
