Thanks for the opportunity to put somebody on a hunt.
I would like to go on this hunt and take the family with me. ( wife if she wants, son-15, daughter-11, and son-1 ) The oldest has been hunting since he was 10, and only gotten birds. He was with me when I missed a buck last year, and then when I got a buck. The excitement he showed was something that I will remember forever. He has a junior tag this year, and on the way to our hunt last Saturday, we saw a toad of a buck that got him all excited, too bad it was 5:00 in the morning, pitch black, another hour to shooting light. My daughter has been on some bird hunts, she was with me when I helped a fellow hunter drag a deer out of the woods, wanting to touch and feel and pet the deer, and didn't even call it Bambi. The youngest has all kinds of energy, and loves being outside, with shoes or without.
I grew up hunting in Washington, it was a family thing. After leaving there for the Navy, I have gone back for hunting a few times, but my hunting now and for a while to come is California. A chance to get the kids in the outdoors is the main reason I hunt. It is becoming a confused generation of kids, not knowing what the outdoors is all about.
I take the oldest out with one of his buddies every once in a while, and get nothing but positive comments, saying they want to do it more. I think kids need outdoors experience, and being able to have the chance to take game home adds to the experience.
If I am not picked, that is fine, but whoever is chosen, I hope that you take a newbie, wether its the neighbor, neighbors kid, your own child that hasn't been, introduce them to the outdoors and hunting.
If everbody did this with just one person per year, maybe we could change the attitude of, and towards, hunters for generations to come.:JHO rocks:

Well, here it goes,

I grew up in Cali and for 29 years had to deal with traffic so i moved to AZ. Ha, no traffic. That in it self should win, BUT i am also now unemployed and looking to fill the freezer (the deer meat is running low), food stamps are not cutting it and i would like to fill the freezer before i don't have one. I have hunted hard and long to fill my freezer and finally a little piggie fell to my arrow (Javelina). Well, come to find out, they dont tast very good at all so i think i should be picked for the Tasty hog hunt you have to offer. My familly and I would be so greatfull.

Also, if you know anyone in AZ that needs a Survey CAD Tech or a Party Chief please let me know. I have over 10 years experience.

I dont know how you guys are going to pick a winner, there are a lot of great stories on here. Thank you for the opportunity guys and congrats to the winner.

I would like to win this hunt so that i could give it to my 13 year old son, he has been deer hunting for two years and hasnt seen a buck yet. He understands that its called hunting for a reason if it was about filling a tag every year it would be called killing.Cody is a great kid he has had alot on his plate the last couple of years...family problems on his moms side. Even though he has alot on his mind he has been able to keep up his grades with a 3.67 gpa, football practice every day with an upset at the championship game and then straight into wrestling. With his schedule its hard to just find the time to get away. He grew up from the time he could walk until he was about 7 years old hunting with me on a private club so he has been with me when I have killed pigs.
I would hope that you consider my son as the winner of this great hunt. I would also like to tag along to video this hunt for him if that is alright... and maybe pick Perrys brain alittle about deer hunting.... ive been reading his posts since i signed up on this great web sight and look forward to see his pictures every season.
thanks for this opertunity,

I wish I had as good of reasons as most of the previous posters. But I don't. I won't boar ( :D ) you with the details, but this is my first year hunting and have nothing to show for it. I got a deer, pig, and bear tag....spent a bunch of money on gear...drove all over creation....and got nowhere fast. I would reallly love to have something to show my wife soon before she decides that I should give up hunting and stick to the range :(

Can you help?

Oooo! Me, pick me!

Unfortunately, I don't have any funny stories because I'm a new hunter. I've been finding it tough to break in particularly because I don't have anyone experienced to show me the ropes. Understandably, people keep their secret spots to themselves, so I've found trying to find the right area in all the public land available to be pretty daunting. It makes it tougher still that I'm not really sure what I should be looking for.

I've put in five days this year looking for pigs (Los Padres NF), but to scout and hike as much as I did and not even see any sign, new or old, was pretty discouraging. At one point, I hiked down into a canyon and almost got completely boxed in. Getting out took me several hours and had me questioning my decision to hunt alone. That said, living in Los Angeles, it's hard to convince any of my friends to go shooting with me, much less hunting. Heck, when I do convince anyone to go, I end up paying for their ammo, just to get them out there. It's like shooting affirmative action. :)

Since then, I've focused more on deer and saw some does in D14, which was reassuring. (At least I saw animals!) I also talked to a couple hunters that seemed to know the area well, so picking their brain about tactics and places to go was probably the best part of the whole trip. I didn't see any bucks but hopefully next year...

Since deer hunting isn't a year-round endeavor, I think I'll give pig hunting another go. But from what I've heard about public land pigs, my expectations of even seeing some are pretty low. I know one of the best ways to learn (other than going with an experienced hunter) is to hunt with a guide, but I can't really justify the expense. If it's a giveaway, however, yes please! :pig-laughing: I'd love to be able at least see some pigs rather than say I tried and failed.

I've got faith in the Good Lord, and I'm blessed beyond belief,

It would be nice to win this hunt. I've been so busy getting my degree that i haven't been out hunting in the past few years. But after reading some of these posts, I think one of the youth hunters should get it. I will always remember my first deer and bear. It would be a great christmas gift for a father/son.

My dad is getting up there in age and we never experienced hunting together. Niether of us have ever hunted, so this year we decided to do it. Problem is now that we got all our gear, I cant afford to pay to go hunt. I want to have this experience with my dad. Im 35 and he is much older. I see the father/son hunting shows and it looks wonderful. Good luck to all who enter. :patiotic-wavin-flag
Thank you Just for Hunting and Jesse for putting this together.

This isn't a plea entry for myself (well kinda) it's actually for my 16yr old daughter. She's like the son I never had - always wanting to go to sporting events, hunting trips, etc. She's always been there when I've shot animals and just the shear joy of being out ion the woods with good ol' dad. Even though she's had her license for 2 yrs now we've not been able to witness her taking an animal (yet). I would really like to see her get her first animal, and what better way than to start with a hog hunt! I, like many of you, want to make sure many of expose our children to the joy of hunting - I want to keep her engaged in the outdoors -- I do not want to lose her yet teenage friends (vs spending time with dad), malls, etc. :D --- I want to thank Parrey for the sponsorship of this hunt and anyway reading this post!

Thanks for the consideration!

WOW

I was going to enter this however even though I also am out of work after reading some of these post I feel there are others who need this hunt much more then I.
I do agree the forum monitors should knock it down to five or ten enteries once the end date is reached only add one rule for the vote:" No one can vote for themselves." Put out a message to the members when the post are picked to vote on and lock on a time frame to vote.

This is a great thing I also would like to thank the sponsors of this hunt and wish each and every entery good luck !!!

I have been working really hard on my pig calling and pig decoy costume. They didn't pick me at the county fair in the calling contest. I have practiced a lot and I got it down now sooooeeee, soooeeeeee. sooeeeee! Got to change it up a bit, that's the secret. If I get picked for the hunt, I would be able to try it out on a real boar. Hell with the judges, when I call in a boar, I know my call and decoy costume is the best! I'll send them the picture of my boar and show them! And you will get a picture of the biggest hog ever for your advertising! Your guides will be truly amazed, trust me on that! Just give me the chance, and you will see. You have to pick me! You won't be sorry. :pig-laughing:

My 87yr old uncle was just saying the other day,,IT SURE WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE SOME PIGGY PORK CHOPS IN THE FREEZER. At 87 he has a hard time with pigs...fact is he's never got one!!!!
nothing better than pig on the BarB or in a smoker.
My 55th birthday is Dec 14th...what a Xmas/B-day present this would be.....I can taste that hog.. And I'm about out of HOG meat.
My 22yr old just got back from his 3rd trip to Iraq and other hostile places. He has never been pig hunting with me!!! His B-day is Feb 14th..He may or may not be deployed there again..Heck that would be a Birthday present for him too.
Fact is all the hogs around Red Bluff and Plaskenta are on private land...Uncle lives in Red Bluff.
Also I need some PIG TEETH!!! Been promising some silver and gemstone(TUSK/teeth) necklaces..Turquoise,Jade, or somethin that I'll make! PLUS we need the meat. I dont remember winnin anything:archer green: and if its a good one my friend will stuff it for my son:JHO rocks:

great...a bunch of guys voting for themselves...;) hahah

why dont you narrow it down to 10 or so, and we take it from there?

+1

Here's my entry.

A few years ago a friend got a call to do some depredation clean ups of some pigs. He ended up with so many that he offered one to me, if I paid the butcher fees. I did and boy did me and my family enjoy that meat! Ever since I've been more-than-hinting (out right begging) for him to bring me along on another pig hunt. Our schedules have not meshed so for nearly two years now my freezer has been wild-pig-free:(.

But back to that last load of meat. My parents were visiting and I made breakfast for all. We had hashbrowns, toast, eggs and of course WILD SAUSAGE! Everybody except my Mom knew it was wild sausage. I made a point to ask her several times how she liked it - she said she did. Well, as she was preparing her last bite I casually mentioned to Dad how I wanted to get an opp for hunting another pig.

Mom freaked :stir pot:! As She spit out the last bite she said "I can't believe your are poisoning me with that dirty wild animal!" She refused to listen to us tell her about how they live in the wild vs. in a pen. So much for being an educated adult :tongue-green:.

So, I deserve to win so I can get some of that poison meat to feed her:mooning:.

BTW, :JHO rocks:.

Hog hunter needs peace of mind

Two small kids, a wife who doesn't understand, I think I said enough.

I had to miss two refuge duck hunts already this year, had good reservations. If I win she can't say a damn thing. "Get me ouuttttaa heeerrreee."

I was a crippled orphan, grew up in the hunting paradise of San Francisco... (really)

blah blah blah. Hard luck story. I'm doing fine now, and want to see another generation get started in ethical hunting.

I think the hunt could go to someone better suited. I'd vote for a father son combo. In fact, if you can bring a tear to MY eye, I'll cough up $20 to help send a kid along.

Why I should have the opportunity.

I would like the opportunity to go on this hunt for many reasons. However, most of them are not as compelling as some of the hard luck stories or as emotional as the bonding stories other members have supplied. In short, I don't really have any hunting partners or family left to hunt with. My dad and I tried to hunt together this year after not being together for 21 years. This proved difficult as I am 31 and he in his late sixties and we physically are just not a good hunting match style wise. We used to hunt when I was a kid but some messy divorce stuff and his job took him off across the country to the land of long distance phone calls and holidays spent going back and forth. I was fortunate to have a love of the outdoors instilled in me as a youngling and have held on to it ever since, despite the lack of practice of skills to fufill this dream.

Anyway, with my dad being gone alot it made me realize what is important to me in life, and that is my kids. Hunting is not far behind my family as it fuels me, but it usually consists of living vicariously through this forum and by watching the outdoor or pursuit channels. I have never been hog hunting or guided hunting for anything. This would be a great blessing and I would be extremely thankful and am willing to film or take pictures and post them here for the others and would hope that whomever wins will do the same. A big thank you to the new outfitter for offering this opportunity as just the thought of this has provided a retreat from work.

By the way, did I mention that I am a vice principal in a middle school ( at least for the remainder of the year as my job was cut for next year. I am fortunate though in that I will still have rights to a teaching position and am reminded of how lucky I am every day, ( that alone should move me to the top of the pack Ha ha ha). Anyway, thanks for the forum and for offering this opportunity. I would love to get out there and actually hunt this year, especially with someone who knows what they are doing. I am really interested in having the knowledge of the guide to help show me how to get a pig, track a pig, field dress, etc. ( i am hoping many of the skills will translate to deer hunting as well) and the methodology and knowledge in practice is the item that I most covet. I have learned so much from this forum about hunting and field dressing etc. but like I tell the students, you will lose it if you don't use it. I really get my fix from the knowledge and the prep. The night before is like a drug to me, and I am constantly chasing that excited feeling, like a kid before Christmas. Good luck to everyone, I hope whomever wins has a rad time and shares the memories here.Thanks-Lahontan :JHO rocks:
