Hogs Are Everywhere!

Today I went on the MOST incredible hog hunt. We were invited to hunt a huge ranch, just shy of one million acres. We got there just at sunrise. As we were going to an area to sit and wait. The hogs were crossing everywhere. I lost count after about 70 or more. NO LIE!

I guess all the waiting and other hunts that I never got one from. This day made up for all of it. I ended up with 3 sows and 2 boars. I'll post more pictures later. I'm tired and I wanted to share with all of you my very first hog.

P.S. Just some personal processing advice.......consider just having the scrap meat cut up into "chili grind" (vs. sausage). Makes for great taco or burrito meat!

After reading Jesse's post about Boomsplat. This hunt I went on was not with Boomsplat. I was a guest on a private ranch for free.

I'd love to say were I was. I am only allowed to say it is in Merced Co. They are having problems with poachers shooting hogs on the place. And surrounding areas. They want to keep this area as quite as possible.

This place is so thick with hogs. Hubby had one charge after his quad and rammed his head into the front winch. I bet in 5 hours we seen over 150 hogs. I got a little nervous about not being near our quad when I was hunting a few times.

I'm going to have the scraps made into ground pork. I like the way I make my sausage better than they do.

I too live in Merced CO. but I have never seen hogs like that.
