Well said - Blazeintowers, but that's easier said then done. But I'm pretty sure the growers will not hesitated to pull the trigger also.

Yup, that's be REAL smart. Kill a grower and spend the rest of your deer hunting days in jail.

Read the story in the political forum about the BP agents who fired on an fleeing illegal and got convicted. Something about 20 years kind of makes me stop and think.

Do the smart thing and back on out and call it in.

I have herd quite a few of horror story about hunters or hikers being shot at for just trying to get out of an area. Jesse is right on this one but the main thing is to be aware of your surronding and don't go in too deep into their plantation. The sooner you notice, the sooner you can back out before any grower in the area can spot you. Play safe, not Gunho....!!

Court TV had a show on today where Fresno SWAT was going to take down a grow.

In the briefing for the cops going in the cop pointed out to look for the heavily worn trails and cans of beans and fertilzer bags to know when they were close to the lower field. There were 3 fields total.

The video showed lots of black irrigation pipe, fertilizer bags and crude sleeping camps. The growers got away, at least during the raid and there was no guns found, at least that they found left behind. The cop did mention them finding stacks of ammo boxes at other raid sites.

Not a real good time to get into a firefight IMHO if you're a hunter who stumbles on a grow. The bad g guys know the lay of the land, they may have 5x your firepower with resupply nearby and they may have you outgunned also. Only a fool would push that position when they could simpy back out.

If you're trying to get out and get fired at just know that firing back will give away your position. I'm sire the bad guys can tell the cops from hunters and probably will defend the grow. On that TV show the cops were like a herd of elephants going thru the brush, radios squaking, guys hollering. Maybe they were driving them in a hammer and anvil movement, if not there was no stealth on that entry.

My lead firefighter on my engine is missing his little finger for getting to close to a grow and had some kind of a divise go off near his hand. Sounds like a good place to back off and call it in.
