I'm planning on showing up on Friday afternoon. I reserved a room on base for Fri and Sat night. I'll be in a white Dodge diesel work truck or a white Tundra. I'm chomping at the bit for this trip.
I'm all for scouting and helping.

Everyone cross their fingers and hope my scope gets here in time to mount and sight in.

Do you guys know if BigFoot season will be open on Presidents day weekend as well. If it is, do you think my .270 is enough gun or should I pack my .300 Ultra mag?[/b]
Bigfoot season is year round and they can be taken with fair confidence by a .270. I have taken many a Sasquatch with rounds ranging from .22-250 to a .416...and one with 00 buck with my shotgun. Shot placement is key, as with most mammals, and Bigfoot is no exception. Sounds like this one was a trophy 'cause you usually don't find the silver/gray variety this far south.
...really.

Thanks for the info bayedsolid!

Since you seem to be the resident expert, is shot placement about the same as say, a Yeti? I took one of those with my .22lr. One shot, One Kill. Rt Eyeball did the trick

I wouldn't recommend any amature to try and take one of these creatures without first taking at least one of my seminars. I have one coming up called "Squashing Squatch--One shot, one kill." Usually I charge $200 per person but I'm willing to give all of you a big JHO discount and do it for $150 each.....provided of course there are at least 6 people in your group. Hey, what a coincidence....I noticed there are at least 6 people going to be in Liggett for the JHO FHL President's Day Hog hunt. I could come and give you all the seminar before you hit the woods, and with all the Silverback Bigfoots reaking havoc all over Liggett, I'd highly recommend it.
<

Side note to management----I know I'm not a paid sponsor of JHO but I'll cut you in for 15% if this all goes through.

... Much cooler weather on the way for central California by mid
week...

A major change from the warm temperatures to much cooler conditions
will take place starting Tuesday night across central California.
Temperatures which have been running 5 to 15 degrees above normal...
will cool slightly on Tuesday and then fall 10 to 20 degrees
Wednesday as a very cool Canadian airmass moves southward into
California. Conditions will become blustery as strong high pressure
moves south out of British Columbia... wind advisories may be needed
in the hills and along the coast Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Weak areas of low pressure moving south from the Pacific northwest
will interact with this cool airmass to bring a chance of showers
starting Friday... and continuing through the Holiday weekend. As
colder air continues to filter into central California... snow will
be possible during the Holiday weekend over the coastal mountains...
with the snow level falling as low as 2000 feet.

Persons planning travel into the coastal mountains over the Holiday
weekend should be prepared for winter conditions.

Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio... or your favorite news source...
for further information concerning this evolving weather situation.

It looks like there is going to be quite a few of us there this weekend. There will be a total of 8 of us in our party.

Has anyone heard when the last time someone got a pig out of FHL?

We should BBQ friday or Saturday night at the campground. I'll be in a tan Dodge Quad cab truck with a JHO decal. I'm staying at billeting.

Pick a night and we all can toss a chunk of meat on the grill.

Hello all, my ISP is down at home so had to wait till i got back to work today to give an up date. Went to FHL Last saterday (11th) Hit sec 9 in the morning and 27 after lunch. Saw a little bit of sign on both sections not a lot but there are pigs there the sign was fresh. On sec 9 i was sitting down about 10:00 am eating a banana and orange, I heard some noise looked to my left and 5 bull elk came walking by at about 30 yards one had droped his antlers the other 4 were spikes. Saw a copple of yotes but could not get close enough to

one. Sence the first of the year hogs have been taken off 29,15,7,25 and 5 hogs off of 24, this is all i can remember off the top of my head there may be more. I have seen a lot of good sign on 10/13, 7,29,30,24 and a little bit of sign on 25,27,9. We are in for a weather change so all you guys comming from down south or up north be ready for below freazing temps in the morring and possable showers through sunday Monday is going to be nice.

As of the 11th 50 hogs have been taken sence July 05.
Sence Jan 1st 10 hogs have been taken that I know of.
So get ready they are there. Just got to be in the right place at the right time. Good luck all. See you there.

O if you can pre regester on Friday do so. This is a three day hunt and the line will probably be long on saterday morring. Their is only one gal in the booth now and she does a very good job but she is only one person and can only do so much. So if you do have to wait until saterday morring, give her a brake and help her out as much as you can.

You pick the open area you want for that day. you can change it as long as you are back at the booth by 2:00 pm. If you want to hunt a new area in the morring you can change the day before, before 2:00 pm or get in line in the morring and change then.

So you can hunt one area all day (or all weekend ) and chang in the morring or hunt one area in the morring and one area in the afternoon.

O just so you know you can only change into an area that has room. If all areas are full you will have to wait untill someone checks out or wants to change with you

THe rain is bad. DO NOT go off the well graveled roads unless you have a winch or another truck with you to pull you out. The mud and mudholes there are notorious. Grindells is the only one who will tow you out and he gets $175 a yank. You can chain up and that will help a little in the mud.

Saturday BBQ then it is.

Check in FRiday if you can to get a good area. Some of the better areas may be gone by Friday if enough people show up to hunt that weekend.

Got ya Guard Dog on the truck.
