"We'll have a reporter from the Antelope Valley Press (Lancaster area paper) with us on Friday. The current plan is to have him ride along with me,"

Has he been warned about the risks associated with driving with the Roadmisser:skeered:... this could shape up to be one heck of a story!

Thanks, I looked at the map on the Tejon site but I couldn't make out the names of the roads. Its at the actual gate or is there a building (film office) near it?

Lt bear trap road its in the east side of I5.
The office building is attach to the gate.Fallow lebec road and it will turn to bear trap road.

12 more days:smiley-mouse:

Did we set a time to meet at Flying J, or is everybody just going to line-up at the gate since its an early check-in?

I mean, who wants to miss that great breakfast buffet they put out.

I hear ya, Hatchet! I've got an extra or two for anybody who's short.

Dan, I'll probably be up for breakfast at Flying J around 0700, and happy to meet up with any early birds. It is a good idea to fuel up before you hit the ranch, even if you only get gas for your trucks.

We can probably do that. It's about 3 hours for Chuck and I and we were planning on hitting the road at 0400 anyway. Knowing Chuck, we'll probably be out the door at 0330 because he won't be able to sleep. So, lets plan on 0700 for gas and breakfast, rather than breakfast causing gas.

Too many Dans... but that's cool. It's easier to call for support in my hell hole if everyone has the same name!

I would recommend Rocky's for breakfast better menu, food and service. Same exit and closer to the freeway, but I know old ways are hard to give up.

Good luck guys. I'll be up there this weekend during the heat chasing after pigs with my bow.
Hopefully no wet ones and none with nasty holes in them from copper shots. I have seen to many pigs run off after vital shots taken by other hunters thinking they have missed when they have actually hit them. When I rifle hunt I only take head and neck shots when they are broadside, maybe a high shoulder shot to take out bone. If they are facing me or a Texas heart shot I'll take that shot everyday. The copper needs lots of mass, big bone or a 200 yard shot to do it's job(your mileage may very but not by much just ask Hatchet1). This is my observation after 2 years with the spring access at Tejon with many different hunters and seeing that the copper is not like lead, it's just too hard for ribs and vitals to do it's job. If you do hit them the old fashion way be prepared to run after them right away for a very quick second and third shot or you will be eating a tag. Tejon rules are if you hit the pig and can't find it your hunt is over which sucks but the rules are the rules.

When I get back I'll post up a write up on the hunts to get you guys fired up....like you need it.:mooning:

return to its "natural" state of beauty"

I am not sure why but I find the above statement very funny...

ltdann,
Make sure you chain your camera. Pig at Tejon are much bigger than Arizona Javelina. They will run with it & you never see your camera again. See you and Chuck at the hunt. :smiley_yahoo:
