Hello,
Just thought I would introduce myself before I started posting. My name is Josh, and I recently moved to Agua Dulce. I'm a firefighter for the county of Los Angeles, and former Marine. I have access to some private property in the tehachapi mountains. I have hunted this land before, and was amazed at the amount of pigs. In three trips two years ago, I glassed at least eight pigs. I have yet to take one, but I think this will be my year. Unfortunately, its infested with rattlers...well, maybe not infested, but I have run into a few, and stepped right over one before it decided to rattle.

Well anyways, I'm eager to take my first pig; and look forward to making some new friends here.

Good luck and welcome!

Oh, you might want to invest in some snake chaps or leggings.

Welcome aboard Josh....

I just moved from Agua Dulce a little over a year ago. It was nice, but a lot of work living out there keeping up with things. I moved back to SCV and now I have a lot more time to hunt....

Thanks for the welcome guys. I will be making a trip up to where I hunt Sunday. I want to store the GPS coordinates, and start doing some recon... I will take pictures and post them up Monday.

I was looking on google earth and found that this property almost butts up to Tahon. I think thats why theres piggys all over the place.

Welcome aboard USMCFireman!!!!! As stated above, this pig hunting will become an overwhelming addiction, hell, a monster that you must feed. With each hunt you go on and with each pig you shoot the monster only grows more and more. Make sure you feed it often!!!!!

On a side note, are you from the tehachapi area originally? Just curious since I grew up out in that area. Rosamond to be exact. Would love to find out what property you have access to since I also have access to 1200 acres that butt us against the tejon property on the east side. Let me know how your scouting goes, I curious as to how the pig population is looking out there this year.

Welcome Josh, glad to have you aboard. I too hunt the hills of Tech. I hunt a ranch which also butts up Tejon. Yes, the pigs do come from and frequent that ranch. Good luck on you upcoming trip and be sure o post he results. If you need someone to go with....

Hey guys, thanks for all the welcomes. We went up there this weekend just to get some GPS coordinates at the cabin. I saw lots of fresh sign, but no pigs as we didnt get up there till about 10am. But this is the first time I've been there and didnt see a pig. Our buddy who is a Major in the Marines got one the night before, so I'm guessin they will lay low for a day or two? Anyways here are the pics I promissed. Two former Marines from two different generations, and two different wars...but we are great friends and enjoy the thrill of the chase.

Enjoy-Josh

Oh, and I forgot to mention, its basically on the eastern edge of Tahone, maybe 4or5 hundred acres. We have to pass through I think double mountain ranch, and even Tahone at one point?

Welcome to the club. Nice ride and nice hook up on the ranch. I know exactly where that is. There are pigs all over that place. Fireman and a Marine? Very admirable. Nice to have you join us.

Thanks, I was in the Marines from 97-late 03. After Iraq I tested for the FD and whadayaknow?

I think this spot is D10. Freakin pigs and deer everywhere!!

I'd like to get in on the Tahone Pig-o-rama next year too, how do I make that happen?

I usually use my Savage 30-06, but lately I have been carrying a A3M4 with a new style scope with combat reticle we have been testing. Its designed for people, but I will test it on pigs. I know its probably light, but after carrying it and using it for several years in the Military I'm comfortable with it.
