I forgot to add that this blood trail is more of the reason I don't really want to hunt hogs in a rainy situation. They typically don't leave a big blood trail anyway.
I agree with ya on that. It's also another reason I will be aiming very low on every shot from now on. A lower shot and a pass through should have more blood hitting the ground as the body cavity wouldn't need as much filling up. Especially if the heart or a major artery to the heart is taken out!
Awesome, nice job! What kind of broadheads? Looks like a perfect hit and lots of blood on the animal. I'm surprised more of it did not hit the ground. I hate scant blood trails. Way to stick it out and kudos to your for being disciplined enough to hold off on the second pig.
Pigs are funny. I've seen them not bleed at all and I've seen them gush blood. My buddy shot one on the Santa Cruz hunt with a rifle and it looked like it had a Rain Bird sprinkler blowing out both sides. The last pig I killed at Tejon was shot with a rifle and the bullet didn't even exit. But that one looked like someone had dumped a 5 gal bucket of blood as he rolled down the hill. Then I've seen many many pigs mortally hit behind the shoulder not bleed a drop. They're a tough animal to predict after the shot. But with a hit like yours, there aint no way he's going too far.
SD: G5 Montec's (125 grain), I love them. Tough as nails. I was suprised at the lack of blood also, the shot felt and looked good but I didn't know for sure until I found him.
Congrats BDB. Thanks for not finishing mine off, hopefully he'll still be there for me. Nice looking hog. Great job on getting a pict of the bulbs I was trying to describe.
Congrats BDB. Its was nice seeing you up there after our adventures and celebrating your success. Glad you have a full freezer now. Keep up the positive work.
