Well I finally made it happen after I lost 3. Hooked this fish at 10:55 and it hit the deck at 3:31. Got him on a fly line slow dragging a mackerel. It was 168#. Landed it with a 60-80 pound class rod and 80# line. Stayed on the rod without a break for 4.5 hours. Best fish fight of my life. I had it at the boat at one point and it broke one of our gaffs got it back to boat 45 minutes later and we landed it. We ended 5.3 miles away from where hooked up. Almost spooled me but finally got lucky and made it happen. I need to save up and buy some real big game gear. Super happy and sushi and tuna steaks for days. Went three trips 218 miles and finally got it on the deck. God has blessed me with a freezer full of salmon halibut rock cod squid hogs cow and now tuna.

Been meaning to reach out and see if you'd been hunting 'em. You looking around carmel, heading up to the fingers, or somewhere in between?

Just north of fingers before ano. Was a great day on the water. Wanted to go again tomorrow but the seas are predicted to be BIG
