The horns were set pretty cock-eye on his head (and no, i didnt put them back on crooked .....which makes him look pretty unsymmetrical although when i scored him the deductions were suprising minimal. Prongs were 3 3/4 and 4, which is the main reason i took him as they are the longest yet for me.
We were over in the vananda area, we missed our first choice and drew the 700 tags, my dad hunted where we took this guy 30+ years ago and the land has changed hands so much we were hunting state and blm (us and everyone else). Way too crowded for my taste- i was pretty excited to fill the first day and get away from all the bullets that were flying.
Was the traffic pretty heavy over at medicine bow??
My wife and I hunted Ekalaka this past season took some nice muleys. Wished I had an antelope tag, we saw hundreds of them critters. I was on the look out for a big white tail buck.
Great job to both of you on the Mulies. I've got a sister that hunts, but im still workin on finding myself a female that hunts! Ekalaka is a great area, i wish it wasnt so far away from Billings or i'd do some serious hunting over there. I did some surveying over there with the Forest Service a couple years ago and saw some bruiser whitetail in late July and a few turkeys. Did you spend any time in the town of Ekalaka?? Its a great little community and some of the best and cheapest meals i've ever had.
Yeah we had most of our meals in town,The newest being the Dinner bell. They have some good eats and most of the bars are close except one. We drop our mounts in camp Crook(South Dakota) the guys name is Eric Loken border of montana.
(Taxidermist)
Cannon, I hunted Up Big Porcupine Road this year, off Vananda. We got our goats but tough huntin, never seen such a spooky bunch of animals. Also blue tounge seems to have hit the area.
