I grew up in Riverside........ I don't know if it's legal or not...... but when I was younger...... we would catch crawdads in the Santa Anna River Bottom....... we climbed the trees when ever we saw a pig........ one access point is around Van Buren and Wilderness Dr. ...... some where around the Animal Shelter...... check into it...... I know that people hunt it..... but not sure if they're supposed to.

Just a headsup: FHL is closed for training exersizes, Vandenberg access is for military only, and the Carrizo Plains are several hundred thousand acres with only limited numbers of pigs and very few roads.

Very good point here, IMHO save your time and money and spend it at the Tejon Ranch where, around $350 bucks gets you into loads of pigs. Do some research on this and you will find lots of posts stating prices and success rates.

Easymoney, if you read back in this post to Chadster, he stated the two exceptions where civilians can get on base at Vandenburg. I have not confirmed this with the base or with others, but it sounds like it makes sense. Is there anyone else out there that can confirm this?

Okay, here's the deal on Vandenburg AFB for non-military. I just confirmend witha gentleman there that current military and retired military can sponsor one non-military at a time. It will cost the sponserer 15 bucks a year for the privelage to hunt there and the sponseree can get a three day pass for 10 bucks. This means that the sponserer has to accompany the sponseree at all times. As well you have to have all your california hunting liscense and tags as well (of course).

I think this just brightened my day hearing this.

So here we go. I really wanna hunt there the weekend of the 29th this month. I have myself and one friend for sure. Since we are neither military and my dad who is is out of the county on vacation, we need two other hunters that want to help sponsor us. Any takers............. just let me know.

I can tell you all that I know..... but I wasn't into hunting at the time .............. I was into fishing then......
