I just got my NH moose hunt application and noticed that NH is doing the bonus point thing. I like that as it gives guys who have been applying for a while a better chance. Only a matter of time before they start allowing the buying of multiple chances in the lottery. Thats been a bad deal in Maine IMO, forcing people to buy 6 chances rather than one to get the same odds of drawing a tag.

dogtagger, what I think should be done for the moose lottery is that every year you don't draw, you move into a special tier where there is a certain percentage drawn from that tier. But I guess that getting an extra chance every year isn't a bad deal either as long as they don't do like Maine does, with the more money you invest the better your chances. But hey, that's capatilism at work, right? Good luck on drawing. If I don't get drawn it will be another week for deerhunting, imagine that, 100% chance of going hunting no matter how you slice it. Ya it all comes down to the almighty $. I like the idea of getting a point without applying for that years hunt. I never gave moose hunting a thought figured I never had a chance but the odds sound a little better. I'm sending in for this year.

I applied for several years and didn't get the nod. I eventually stopped applying but to tell you the truth I dont think about missing out. At some point Id love to take a nice bull to have the headgear and also say Id "been there, done that" but I guess maybe that can wait until my kids can be there alongside me, or maybe even take the shot themselves...

Right now Im perfectly content focusing all my hunting time trying to be a better whitetail hunter.
