I always struggle with you giant guys in photo's. So many of you big guys make trophies seem too small!

I like kids and ladies, they are easy to hide behind game and everything seems bigger then life. I'm not one for tricks, and putting people 4 feet behind the game, but I do take pride in photo set-up to make the most of the moment. As you pointed out there is a period of "brain dead" right after the game is shot. The hunter is not thinking clear so somebody should try and think about the pictures that the hunter will have months and years down the road.

For that reason I probably take twice as much time as anyone I know to make the photos what they should be, life long memories. I have several places to hunt in the same area you were in. But then I hunt across South Africa as well, not just in the Limpopo. We hunt the Drakensburg frequently for Black Wildebeest, and the Natal Province for nyala as an example.

There is a very good article( although biased as I wrote it) on my website regading the decisions and judging of Kudu. Take a look at that article and see if it will help you with getting your mind right with respect to kudu horns. Let me know if it was helpful.

JJ,
That's a great article,I remember reading that on here when you posted it.Anybody going on an African Safari(for Kudu)should read and take that article to heart.Everybody want's that "number" kudu bull.Go over there, look over some bulls, pick out one that pleases you(could be the stalk)and take him.You can and will go back to find a bigger/wider more unique one..

Daddy63 – If you’re planning on getting a new rifle anyways I would defiantly step up to a 300 Ultra, 338, 375 H&H or 375 Ruger. Every thing you can kill with a 30-06 you can do the same with a 7.

BigSwad – I pick up my gun on the 13th!!! Have you tried to find brass for it lately? The only place I found that still has the 375 H&H brass was Hornady (directly). Everyone else is out.[/b]

Midsouth shooters supply has Hornady 375 H&H brass, Graf and son has Norma 375 H&H brass.

This has been a great read for me. I enjoyed your research on bullet performance.
Really got me to rethink my ammo reloading.

Thanks.
