Panoche Hills and Tumey Hills

Now that bird season is over I have begun planning out my next year. Due to this years dismal population of quail and chukar I did not get out very much. Unfortunately my centralized location in California makes it equally far to chukar country no matter where I go. About 3 and a half hours at least. I would like to broaden my options for this next year and I have come across the Panoche and Tumey Hills. I have read and seen pictures of chukar at these places, but cannot find information on hunting them there. I was wondering if anyone has any input on hunting in those areas? It looks incredibly desolate.

I have hunted there once and never saw a chukar but got a few quail. I seen some coveys of quail closer to the creek at Panoche but it was in the spring. It's a ways to drive for me but it looked like it could be good for quail and or dove

I've seen Chukar at Panoche but they were in the southern part of panoche hills. I've gotten quail in the DFW ecological reserve but that was a couple years back. I was out there mid Jan for some target shooting with some friends and did a little hunting early in the day but didn't see a thing.

Lived in Concord in the 90's and hunted quail by the reservoir and chukar in the higher elevations on adjacent BLM land. Pigs were also in canyons leading down to farmland. In condor range now , wasn't back then .
