Can you find it in the regulations where it says you can't use dogs for deer. There are a lot of people that use them.

Dogs can be used for the pursuit of deer in approved areas during rifle season not archery. You are not allowed more than 1 dog per hunter. You are not allowed more than 3 dogs per hunter for pig except during deer season when you are limited to 1. Ironically you were allowed unlimited dogs for bear except during deer season when it was 1. Section 265 of your DFG mammal booklet.

I agree wolfman. I dont like it either. They ban the use of dogs for bear and bobcats, but not bambi? I do not know how the bunnyhuggin tree hippies let this get by them. I have never seen anyone do it in Ca so I looked it up and I paraphrased it from the regulations.

A lot of guys I know that hunt the coast send their dog into the brush patches and clear cuts to spook the deer out. These guys are using labs, shorthairs and terriors. These dogs are not really chasing them put pushing them out of the cover. I've gone with my neighbors in the D5 that have a wirehair and they send it down in the canyons and push the deer up the other side where they have other hunters posted up on stands. The dogs are not cornering the deer holding it down, just flushing them. I'd have to admit it is pretty fun to watch a good dog do his work. My dad as a teenager actually lost his lab due to being gored by a buck. The buck was actually chasing the dog in the timber instead of the dog chasing the deer.

I had both motors in the water, and all I carry with me when I'm fishing is my 1911. Don't think I didn't give two thoughts about running up the hillside like rambo and trying to take one out lol. I'm headed up tomorrow early morning, and I'm gonna sit and wait.

Not at all, all the fresh rootings, and mud waller were dried up, no fresh prints, nothing. They moved deep in those hills, we walked to the pond, went from la ferve, headed south east, towards the old cabin, actually we were on The mountain back above it, headed west, came out zebe, and headed back to la ferve, nothing, they moved when the weather front, I'm going back Friday. I did see about 30 deer, one huge herd of 10-15, and got me some sheded horns.
