P - 1, WOW! that fat hog shed is a once in a life time shed,

you probably already know this but I will share it any way, go on http://www.terrafly.com/ or http://www.jesseshunting.com/site/aerial.html and see if they have areal photos of your area and print them out, then make a grid and comm every inch of that area to find it's mate.

Your area looks vary open and easy to spot sheds, however I would take a vary serious approach to find the other side, you know it's there, you just have to systematically cover every inch to find it, then post it up

PS. It's a lot easy-er to get motivated when you finding MONSTER sheds

I took the morning off work today, to try and beat some of the weekend shed hunting competition. well it payed off!

First off I headed to a spot where I found quite a few sheds ealier in the season (Mid Jan), including a nice wide set. I hadn't been there in a while because the deer activity slowed down due to snow depth in the feeding area.

I went back today just to keep tabs on it, and there really wsn't that much fresh sign and no where near the sign there was in January. I made a loop through a part of the field that I hadn't spent much time in (becasue there wasn't a lot of sign there, even in Jan).

So many times my eyes were fooled by pieces of stubble sticking up through the snow, but in one case, the piece of stubble turned into a nice set of 5 x 5 sheds! All I saw was obout 2 inches of 1 tine sticking up through the snow. When I dug it out, the match was under it burried by about 2 feet of snow!

I went to a current hotspot after that (where I found 5 last weekend), and found 6 fresh ones that had been dropped just this past week. Nothing huge, but great numbers!

8 total today

Yep, the snow is deep and those trails are like walking on a sidewalk. Step off them though and your over your knees.

Makes shed hunting fairly easy, most of the sheds I've found have been right on the trails. Anything that has fallen off the trails, is safe until the snow melts.

Never had thought about shed hunting due to being in the south and no snow and thick woods. P1 you interested in starting a guide service come hunting season, I'll be the first to sign up!

from the looks of those horns it seems like you've even beaten the birds to those sheds cause they still have a little bit of head meat on them....too quick!!

Great photos pred. I really like that one with the tine barely showing. Do your dogs find any of those sheds or is that all you. There really aren't any small sheds up there in canada are there.

Me too, because that's exactly what I do for every shed I find. It's like I just scored the winning goal in a hockey game!

Finally got back at it today, after about 3 weeks of not going out due to other commitments and very poor conditions.

we got some melting action in the last few days, and seeing as how, it's the begining of march, I figured It's be a good time to head to a favorite mulie hot spot. last time I was there about a month ago i found a couple nice ones, but most bucks I saw that day still had them.

I put in 7 hours, and came up with 8 sheds.....a couple beauties to boot! Here's a few pics with action shots!!
