I say it's a fake, but, who knows for sure?
My criteria is that the tom would not be still in strut with a bobcat hanging off of his head.

The thing that surprises me most is that everyone assumes that since they see tail feathers fanned out, that the "turkey is in full strut". Heck, if I just got blind-sided by a 20 - 30 pound hungry bobcat, all fangs and claws - strutting is going to be the last thing on my mind. In fact, it would happen so fast, I doubt I or a turkey would have time to actually think about anything.

But, those adrenal glands and the fight or flight reflexes of any animals nervous system can even out-fast a bobcat. The turkey's natural response and reflexes probably made him tense up - real fast. Tension in the butt region just might make those tail-feather-muscles do all kinds of crazy things - LIKE FAN TAIL FEATHERS...

Heck, I don't know one way or the other - like I said earlier - I hope it's real, just cause it would be a cool picture. But to see people come up with all kinds of justifications for why it's a fake is sort of closed-minded. But on the other hand, it makes me want to come up with just as many reasons why it could be real.

Ah, it all makes for a good lively debate - we should all be so lucky as to see something that fantastic once in our lifetime.

Jesse - I have a feeling that this topic may never die... I didn't mean to offend or get anyone stirred up by my comments, by any means.

enjoy,

Mossberg .. the angle of the cat shows it coming from the left, I agree that it would never come from the open field. The cat couldn't get to that position in the air from the right.

I think the cat is stuffed and tied to the turkey to make it look like it was in a fight. I have hundreds of bobcat photos and studied them for years, a cat would take that turkey down as soon as it hit it. Any camera I have would show the cat blurry if it was moving in the air like that.

Also, don't be afraid to post pics, would love to see some.
