I was supposed to join jb229 and his group at the lake this past weekend. Apparently two days before I was supposed to leave, the virus got me running to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes. I had to turn down the offer from jb229 because pepto-bismo is not working fast enough. Thurs night I started doubling up the pepto-bismo dosage and by Fri night, the bathroom rush stopped. I talked to the game warden about a possible one day hunt at FHL. At first she said no because I was still taking pepto-bismo, then I beg and beg and beg and to my surprise she said, "I will go with you and the mini-you." I didn't hesitate about the outcome and started packing. We left at 4:30am. 7am and we were checking in. We found some couple days old rootings and some fresh rootings and tracks all mixed together in a canyon. Looks like we were just right behind the hogs. We busted every bush covered every angle of the canyons but the hogs were no where to be found. It was time for lunch so we met up with our friends who were at the Billeting. After some chow, we headed back to the canyon at 3:30pm. I had a high spot in mind where we planned to park the truck and have the whole view of the canyon. Well 100 yards before the parking spot, I looked to my left and 40 yards out I saw the rear of two hogs disappeared over a small knoll. Out came the smoke pole. 10 minutes later 100 pounder was rolling down hill while 14 others scurried up the other hillside. By the time I reload again, everything was quiet in the canyon. There's road at the bottom of the canyon so the game warden drove the truck down to the bottom road while I and the mini-me do some downhill dragging. This boar was just the right size to keep the skin on, so we gutted it and brought it home to be clean with the boiled water and scalding method.

Yep. The guy and his son went back there the next morning. All they found were fresh tracks crossing the road where we didn't see any the day before. We asked the guy at the window about permission to follow the blood trail that went under the fence. The guy that was there in morning was going to find out and let us know when we come back from the morning hunt. Apparently we got tied up with tracking a big group of hogs and when we got back to the window, the morning guy had left. The afternoon guy that works at the window had no clue what I was talking him about. All he gave me was the game warden's business card.

We'll do it again this coming weekend if some good areas open up.

The big ones are always the ones that got away. I will join you guys at the lake one of these days. And we will see how evading those hogs can be....hehe.

Outstanding!!! Better yet the better half goes with you. Still working on my warden coming out with me.

I still like the flavor of the lil piggies better than the big ones. My buddy tells me it is about being a man killing the biggest? Skill in getting the lil fast ones I think is better// Who knows. Congrats. I may head out soon too.

Nice....how do you like the muzzle loader?

I bought the lowest end of the CVA line of muzzleloader, the CVA wolf. It was my first smoke pole and I didn't want to invest to much $ in it, at least not yet. It was a display at Cabelas with a $179 price tag. I ask the sales associate to find the missing front sight pin and he came back with a price drop to $139 and no sight pin. Planning to put a scope on, I don't need a sight pin so I took it. I bought it last September and so far used it on three hunts. Killed two hogs and missed one shot at a full speed running hog. It's not the prettiest gun and I'm not in love with it, but it does the job and I can live with that.

Eh....how's Oregon so far? Has the fishing started yet? I hope you find some good areas for elk. I'm gonna need to pick your brain someday.

Bears with dogs?........I'm game!....I know a few places that I bet letting loose some dogs, the hunt won't last very long.
