I was supposed to join jb229 and his group at the lake this past weekend. Apparently two days before I was supposed to leave, the virus got me running to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes. I had to turn down the offer from jb229 because pepto-bismo is not working fast enough. Thurs night I started doubling up the pepto-bismo dosage and by Fri night, the bathroom rush stopped. I talked to the game warden about a possible one day hunt at FHL. At first she said no because I was still taking pepto-bismo, then I beg and beg and beg and to my surprise she said, "I will go with you and the mini-you." I didn't hesitate about the outcome and started packing. We left at 4:30am. 7am and we were checking in. We found some couple days old rootings and some fresh rootings and tracks all mixed together in a canyon. Looks like we were just right behind the hogs. We busted every bush covered every angle of the canyons but the hogs were no where to be found. It was time for lunch so we met up with our friends who were at the Billeting. After some chow, we headed back to the canyon at 3:30pm. I had a high spot in mind where we planned to park the truck and have the whole view of the canyon. Well 100 yards before the parking spot, I looked to my left and 40 yards out I saw the rear of two hogs disappeared over a small knoll. Out came the smoke pole. 10 minutes later 100 pounder was rolling down hill while 14 others scurried up the other hillside. By the time I reload again, everything was quiet in the canyon. There's road at the bottom of the canyon so the game warden drove the truck down to the bottom road while I and the mini-me do some downhill dragging. This boar was just the right size to keep the skin on, so we gutted it and brought it home to be clean with the boiled water and scalding method.
