Here's a Hog I harvested on the Bitterwater ranch east of King city,Ca in the mid 90's. He was over 200 and had 3 3/4 in tusk on both sides. I used a Remington 788 in 308 Cal 168gr btsp 28 yds in his bed. Then in 2004 I harvested another with my Mathews Q2 30yds but did not recover him till next day after work by that time the coyotes had got to him and he had about 3 1/2. I got a hide from another hog and now he is at the taxidermy

Not the best pick to show off the tusks but here's mine. 3 1/4 and 3 1/2 inch tusks. He's at a taxidermist that I unfortunately learned after giving a deposit and my pig that he sometimes doens't get your animal back. It's been 15 months and no word other than he's behind because of this and that. I need to give another call. Hope I get it back.

Can someone post Pigig's photo of the "huge" boar he took at Chopper's during the Oregon vs. Cali hunt?

This is my biggest hog to date. Just didn't have any tusks to speak of.

Deerslam, nice hog. How much did it weigh? Looks pretty big. What caliber did you use? Congratulations.

Kentuck, I hope you get that pig back.

I've just shot meat pigs so far. I'm still looking for a big black, nasty toofed boar. I seen me one at FHL that will work and hopefully I'll see him next week at our hunt up there.

GREAT HOG, IT WILL MAKE A TERRIFIC MOUNT!

Not my biggest hog (weight wise) but the biggest tusk wise. 3 13/16 and 3 14/16 tusks. Killed in Sonoma county this year. It is a real kick to have killed a boar with both bottoms and both tops intact, usually in my neck of the woods they fight so often the tusks break.

Here's my biggest. Shot him at Tejon in the 2005 JHO Ham Slam.

There were three taken in this size range, and I don't think any of them had tusks worth writing home about.

Here he is from the side. Had to cut him up to pack him out. Back at camp we dumped all the pieces into a burlap sack and weighed him in at 170lbs. That's without all the extra stuff we left in the hellhole. The others that were in the same basic size-range were 275lbs on the hoof and 215lbs field-dressed.

That's my -06, dw. Could've made do with a lot less gun this time, though. I shot this guy at less than 25 yards. If you look under his ear, you can see the entry.

Nice hog from Tejon ranch.
For some reason people measure the hogs tusk after they have taken the skull apart. But measument should be from the exsposed part of the tusk. There are some nic tuskers posted so far can't wait till to get my second big tusker from the taxidermy. Its been almost 4 months hmmmmm. Below is a tusker I harvested but both sides were all broken.

That is good shooting Speck. I have not been hog hunting yet, but I am thinking that 25 yds. is closer than I want to get, lol.
