Sneak peak: Diamond Valley Lake, the massive new lake near Hemet, isn't scheduled to open until summer of 2003.
But the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is looking into opening up access to the lake for special events.
The proposal would allow biking, youth fishing and kayak events in October.
Hiking, equestrian, kayaking or biking events would be held in November, December, January, February, March and May, leading to the grand opening of the East Marina in July.
Logistics and permits are being researched.
