Hunted with my son and 4 others buddies in the Imperial Valley yesterday for easy limits of Snows.
From what we saw, there are still thousands of white geese in the valley and they are all spread out on different portions of the refuge. Birds were trading fields all morning long. We were done well before lunch time.

Danny and Myron showed us a fantastic hunt. They always do.

Looking forward to another smackdown when we hunt the extended season in Feb.

Why go to Texas when you can hunt in 70 degree bluebird weather a few hours from the Pacific Coast?

We starting hunting with Myron Fortin and his guide Danny Moss about 8 years ago and we try to put together at least 1 hunt per season. We have always had a good hunt, sometimes a great hunt.
While it is not cheap at $250 per gun, having a spot that is this consistent and a ,helpful, knowledgeable and well equiped guide makes it a worthwhile. We had a fantastic spread and were decoying snows in late January. 500 plus silo socks, flyers etc. The birds wanted in to our spread all morning.
Compared to the other hunting oppurtunities within 3 hours of my hometown, it is a very reasonable price for a consistent solid hunt.
We do plenty of public area hunts and have had good hunting this season too. All a matter of timing and conditions. Kern was very very good to us this season.

Here is a pic from our 12-21-11 adventure to Kern Refuge,. We had a decent reservation, and took blind 6.
This was the 2nd hunt ever for my sons friend and we let him have all the spoons he wanted. We ended up with full limits and had a bunch of fat puddle ducks. 5 pins, 5 teal, 2 widgeon, 4 gadwall and 8 spoons. So much fun breaking in new hunters. He thanks me everytime I see him for the day.
