UPS truck just dropped off the youth box. It has packages for the greenwingers that includes a magazine and other hand outs. They should get a kick out of them. Calfowler

No way! He's doing it. In fact we should have at least one more judge. This won't happen if I'm the only judge.

We should probably have one of those EZ-up things and something the judges can sit behind so we can't see who is calling.

The calling contest should start no earlier than noon so people have enough time to get signed up.

I was just talking to Andy and we were thinking no one was going to do it????

But as long as we have people that are willing to, let’s do it. We should have sign up list and if we have enough people sign up for it. We will still have it, but if there is only 2 or 3? I don't know. You guys tell me.

So if your planning on being a caller posted up. or email me so we know.

Sorry but I did not think any was interested.
The only person that has said anything about it has been Andy????

Turner’s will have different types of shot, so we can test our guns to find the best shot for your guns and the differences between the shot patterns

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are, that's just funny.

Since they only stock a couple of brands of shells in a few different sizes the patterning shouldn't take very long.

I know a lot of people that are new to the sport and they have no idea how their gun shots.

I have also heard lot of people say, I would like to try that???? shot.
This way they can compare and if there is no different.
Then they can go with the cheaper one.........
<

Also some have never tried any of the Heavy shot. And some have never tested out different chock tubs. This just gives them the ability to do so.

Just remember guys,
Yes there are a lot of seasoned veterans here and there are a lot of newbie’s here to.
The more we all know are equipment the better hunter/shooters we will all be.

What choke tubes manufacturers will be represented?

Are they going to allow me to put their choke in my gun, or will they have my gun at the show?

What I'm trying to say is that a Winchester with choke A might/will shoot differently than a Benelli with choke A. So are they going to have a test gun for each major manufacturer? And a duplicate/triplicate for different chokes?

Jesse or ODP, do you have a timeline of events for the day?
Great question.[/b]
Anyone? Please, even if it's just a rough estimate.

regarding the calling contest, I say squash it for this year, there is no organziation for it this year, it takes more than just two judges to put this on, that are volunteers, I talked to Matt a little about this today. Next year when this comes aound, I'll see who to contact about real judges, a back a drop or stage, a red light, the things that you need for a contest. Then adverise for it, make the contestants pay to blow in it, and have prize money and prizes from the vendors that will be there, bring in Jr.'s for it. There's alot of planning when putting a calling contest together, it takes more than just two guys, listening and saying, he sounds pretty good, and both of these two guys my good friends that volunteered for it.

There will be no big manufacturers there, but if you have your own chokes for your own gun and you would like to test them, bring them, there will be a place for you to do it.

I will keep this simple. The point of this SoCal Waterfowl Day is to offer the bird hunters of California an opportunity to come together with the products and services that we need. It was not the intent to make this event difficult or costly. Therefore, we have made it a no cost event. It doesn’t cost anything for vendors, just a donation for our FREE raffle for the attendees who don’t have to pay to get in either. And we are all out here volunteering our time to get this put together. I think that this is a better decision that way we don’t have to deal with any extra crap, just the things we need for a successful season. I am sure that you can all agree we just want to have a successful hunting season with the tools at your finger tips to do it.

EL CAZADOR watch and learn.

Get the money out of your head.

I’ll make a bet with you, give me 3 years.
The bet is this,
there will not be a bigger waterfowl show then this………

You name the bet.

I do not know who you are in the industry and how much knowledge you have on it. but I have been in it most of my life.

I will see you at the show and we need to set down and have a talk, for awhile.
this is not the place for it.

Mike
That's the classic response - somebody "in the industry" belittling somebody who is "not in the industry". That's really classy and in fact a stand up thing to do for somebody who most people around here feel is the main organizer of this event. You've asked for help - help is not just volunteering (which I've done), but also to help with the organization and the planning of the event. If you can't accept constructive criticism and if you can't have people point out flaws, then you have a big problem to deal with as a leader.

You must think that I'm hoping this event fails. C'mon - are you serious. Look, Jesse and I have talked about a show like this for about two years now. We both share the frustration with what we've been offered in the past. And I glad that the ball has finally been pushed and it's starting to roll. I do agree that it will take time to make this event big, once 1 decoy company comes, then next year you have 2 maybe three and then on and on. I'm not taking your bet, don't be a pessimist.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>

Actually you are completely wrong. Read back a few pages, when somebody mention there should be a meeting to discuss the event. Jesse squashed that immediately,

"I really don't have time to sit in L.A. traffic going to needless meetings when the same can be accomplisted with phone calls and coordination here. It's what a cell phone and the Internet are for."

Everything I've said here is everything I would have said in a conference room. If you don't like it, I'm sorry - it wasn't my decision in the first place. The problem with the internet for conversation is the lack of inflection and emotion. I'm one of those who felt the planning should have been held behind closed doors - you don't air your dirty laundry for the public to see.

Mike, you said this . . .
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
Ok, anyone with something to input? nows is a good time to speak up, the only bad idea is the one you did not share.[/b]
That's my input. See you on Sunday.

You are right as we all know, because of my grate writing ability, I am very sort and to the point, witch comes across as attacking and so on.
I can only say sorry for my lack of ability to be a good writer and I am sorry,
I do not have your abilities.
But I would think buy now you and most of the regs. here would know that buy now.
Do not ever take what I say personal it is not that I am attacking you, it is only my lack of ability to write.

Yes you are right.
I hate it when someone puts a spot light on the dirty laundry
So let it go and I see you on Sunday, but if you would like a good spot for the booth, I would recommend being there on Saturday night. It will be first come first serve.

And once again I guess I own one more a drink.

DITTO, DITTO, DITTO!!!!

I know Andy has been wanting to put together a calling contest in So Cal for a long time and I totally agree that it should be done right the first time. There could still be an amateur division with a no or very small entry fee for those who want to give it a try for fun.
