The boys were back out today walking the trails again.I posted several pics yesterday of there recent finds. They went back to the same area hoping to find a match to their earlier finds.
After walking awhile they came across what they thought was a huge deer trail.Followed it along and came upon a deer leg bone and hoof was the only thing left. They said it looked like someone had dragged something through the woods.Just up the path they come across another leg bone.
Up through the woods they see a small pond that they never even knew was there. As they come up to the pond they see antlers sticking up through the water. It was only a couple feet deep. They used sticks to try and move it closer but finally had to get a little wet.
They fished out a whole buck body and head and stuck in his antlers was the head of another buck!!They had to do some twisting and breaking to wind up with just 2 sets of antlers. They are rotten and stinking quite a bit but ohh what a find. They are jammed together but good.
I figure one of the bucks died and the other had to drag him around.Probably had dogs,foxes,coyotes,etc.. driving him crazy. That may be how they wound up in the water.
I have hunted 33 years and have never found nor seen locked up antlers other then in magazines..Needless to say him and his brother are heading out again tomorrow...Way to go guys
