spooked deer

if you spook a deer how long will it take for it to comeback?if at all.

I've rarely seen a deer come back during the same hunt when they are truely spooked.

Sometimes they will stomp around, throw their flag up, and throw their head up in the air while looking at me. Usually they know something isnt right, but they dont fully spook. They (usually does or immature bucks)will leave and sometimes come back in this situation.

I think it depends on a few things. If they smell ya I think your toast. if they just heard you or caught a glimps of you they may come back after a few minutes. This will depend on weather there is anything to bring them back IE: bait, hot doe scent, scrape, etc. Think about it, would you come back if something scared you off and you had no reason to return? If they do their infamous snort you may be ok. I have a time or two had deer snort at me and run a ways becaue they didn't know what I was. This may sound dumb (but it worked) I snorted right back at them, tring to create a situation of two deer scaring each other. I did this once and then grunted and an ok six point came out of the brush he ran into...Also if the deer has seen you try and get to a diffrent spot as quickly and quitetly as possible, they will be focused on the area the scare came from and if you can get 20-50 yards away you have a good advantage.....Good luck
