The Natural Resource Volunteer Program, managed by the California Department of Fish and Game, was launched in 2010. A training academy in the Sacramento area begins in February.
Appears to be a beneficial program to the volunteer and the State. The mandated 24 hours per month requirement may scare some of those interested but who are already juggling a full time job and all the other lifes responsibilities. Why not train those who are interested and let them volunteer what they can as long as they help the program, which is of course subjective. This way you build the volunteer base, spread word of the program, and have a large volunteer base eager to help when we reach retirement age.
