I don't do FB, is this the type of rifle the missing hunter was carrying? Anything else you can share? I remember when this happened (via Jesse's). Don't know the man.

That’s a cool find but I read the young man was carrying a 300 WSM. Nonetheless does it give approximate location of the find?

This one has really drug on and on and on ... I know the family must be feeling the pain with every passing year.

Most likely that rifle has nothing to do with this hunter, but I'd still have the authorities check it out. A quick search of the serial number might take them straight to the owner, or it might lead to a similar missing hunter case as this one. It would be very interesting to know more and be able to follow the case of the rifle in a separate thread.

I go in this area of dinkey all the time, I grew up in them mountains and I must say this case did not get much media attention. That gun they found has gotta be Robert Willis gun. Also I would mention it’s strange he went missing here because dinkey is not like yosimite, we got logging roads all over these hills and you can see popular lakes from a high elevation, he must got really off track to a rural part, this for sure a missing 411 case, you would think someone would by now find his bones, gun, boots, back pack etc etc.....

Two left handed guns? I don't know any lefty hunters, let alone two. The person that found it should definitely contact the authorities, if he was near the Dinkey Creek area.
