Just a quick thanks to all of you that heped me figure out the antelope up in the Likely tables unit. I hunted the 1st season and saw a whole mess of lopes, all beit mostly does. In total, I saw over 50 antelope, 13 of which were males, 3 were shooters. I was surprised/dissappointed at how many other hunters were in the areas I scouted, especially considering the low tag numbers. I drove a couple hundred miles of backroads acounting for areas all over this unit.
I killed my goat opening day around noon. I had hoped to hold out for a bigger buck, but I had a scenario play out that gave me the chance to whack the herd buck (the biggest buck in two groups of twenty lopes that combined after morning pressure), at 156 yards with a short drag back to the truck. So, down he went. Within an hour he was in town at the coooler. He's 13.5" x 14" and with 6" bases. One of his tips was chipped off. He makes a nice heart shape and was obviously bigger than any of his little buddies. I was happy to get my first goat under my belt. Special thanks to my Brother J and buddy LFB for all their help (both with this animal and celebrating afterwards).
Here is the pic.... Thanks for reading.
