This boar was harvested with a 123 gr dpx barnes corbon ammo 7.62x39 AR platform . The boar dropped were it stood from 50 yard top of gully to bottom shot. First pig after hiking with guns at semi guided spots. The hook has been set I am in trouble!
I cooked it in pieces low and slow was in the block pit BBQ for 14 to 15 hrs . Mopping with vinegar , apple juice, tobasco, and lemon juice every so often . Also had a dry rub coating. The fire was fueled.with red oak and hickory. The meat is tender and relatively juicy for its leaness.
Send me an email (asaxon@mednet.ucla.edu) and I'll send you an annotated list of hog guides in Central CA. Here is my entry on Tom.
