Steve.....Thanks, I'll Email it to you. I don't care what they all say. You're a hell of a trooper. Hurt, no self pity or whining and willing to help me out no matter how bumpy the road got. I really appreciated that...hronk

After a couple of dos e dos, the boar stopped, facing me and charged. I lunged for the back side of the tree behind me which proceeded to break off. As I fell on my ass I saw the boar pass by about 8 inches away down the hill toward Orso.[/b]

Yeee Haw. Now that's HUNTIN'!

Well I can say I had a great time. Great bunch of guys, great place to hunt, great guide, the only thing lacking was my hunting skills. Which I do believe are getting better. Ron Gayer was indeed a class act and very knowledgable about the ranch and hunting. If he can get my fat butt 25 yds from sleeping pigs undetected I would say that is damn impressive. Next time I might actually shoot.

THanks again Guys I had a blast.
Hope to see you again sometime.

I know that I want to hunt with all of you again soon. Let's do what we can to make that happen.

KWB - two shots, one arrow...Nope. The broadhead sheath attached to the bow is just where I keep my first arrow. The broadhead slides in to the sheath and then I just hold the arrow shaft while holding the bow. This way I have extremely quick access to my first arrow. The other arrows I take in the field are in a hip quiver.

The draw weight was 58lbs@28".

The bow was a Dryad Wind-Talker, bamboo backed osage. No glass.

The arrow weight is around 540grain.

I used a 125grn Ace broadhead.

Both shots were under 15 yards. The second arrow was a complete pass thru though part of the shaft was broken inside the hog and hit him in the pocket behind the shoulders. The first arrow was far back, it was behind the guts but in front of the hams. Not a complete pass thru. The blood trail from this first shot was bright red blood, with a good spray pattern every 3 to 5 feet. I had an extremely good trail for a couple of hundred yards but was thinning out pretty quick when the hawg came running back at me.

The first shot was a fatal shot, he was moving slow but I'm really glad he ran into Bighorn so as not to lose him.

(I would love to have a blood trailing dog to help in the recovery of game. I believe it's not legal for deer in Californina but should be, but would be legal for pigs and bear)

With some exceptions (geographic lines drawn in the DFG book), it is perfectly legal in CA...not only for blood trailing but for chasing deer. One dog per hunter.

Good work Orso. Steve, heal well. Did you anesthisize yourself sufficiently after the wreck? And Speck, did you bring your new " wild hog" camo w/ you? It might be the jinx buster you need. My invite still remains when you get a chance.....

Sounds like you guys all had a blast. Congrats to those who got one. How many were harvested for the weekend total?

I can't wait, headin' up there March 6,7 and 8 for an archery pig hunt! It should be better than when I was there in June and it was 100+ degress! Hopin' to get my first critter and have some good times.

I plan on owning a trailing dog down the line. It's tough though, as you have to keep the dog somewhere until you draw blood. It's not that you can spot and stalk with a dog in tow.

That said, Tejon does not allow dogs. I suppose one may be able to negotiate for it, especially on a large bow hunt. It can't be in Tejon's interest to loose any pigs.

And that said, I thought a wounded pig means it's your pig and you are done hunting for that weekend at Tejon, regardless if you recover or not. Is that correct?
