Great bunch 'o bucks! Takes a bit to absorb so many at the same time. Huge spread or not, you've accomplished a heck of a lot - especially for a SoCal hunter!

Welcome to JHO and thanks for posting the pix

King....whats your hunting style, Spot and Stalk, treestand....ect. I see alot of close shots ,just wondering.
SierraFool my hunting style is still hunting and spot and stock, I fought tree stands for years.

I just could not sit that long when I know I can go and stock something, I love still hunting in big buck areas, Just cruising nice and slow.

I love to get close, all of these bucks are from on the ground except post # 15, #13, #30, #59 these four are from tree stands.

When I started out I was a pretty good hunter but not a very good shot, so I set out to become a better shot and it has paid big time

About 4-5 years ago I started to go into the trees, it's amazing how the deer don't have a clue your there, the only hard part is waiting instead of hunting.

I love to go and see whats over the next ridge

Hey Headstrong. My apologies. I had a hunch you might of been a friend of his, but to come with your first and second post with such remarks does get one thinking. Hope you are just as successful as kingwouldbe.

Normally I don't reply to such comments on this forum but I felt I had to say something. It's hard to put someone down who has accomplished quite a bit.

Welcome to JHO. Stick around.

kingwouldbe, I checked your information out by clicking your name, you like tuna fishing I see. That has been my number one for about 15 years, I posted my pics if you click my name and go to photos of my good ones, check it out, maybe we can trade secrets. My number one has changed to bowhunitng in the last 5 years. I am hardcore now, it is a sickness my wife says. Thank you again for your pics.

I would love to have shot just one of those bucks! I'm new to bowhunting and those pictures get me more than excited! It's reasuring to know that there really are bucks like that out there still!

I'd expect you to have written a book by now. I love hunting and learning new ways to be a better hunter!

How do you manage to get so close to these huge bucks?

Thanks

[attachment=32658:attachment]HEADSTRONG I think you have penis envy!!!!

Really what HEADSTRONG is trying to do is push me to really go after other deer like the sierras and out of state.

He calls me the local pro and rags on me every chance he gets for shooting all these little deer, but I love are little local bucks and I have them wired, so it's been hard to go and hunt other deer in other areas

This is a pic of me, Headstrong and Vance with my boar back when you could hunt the Islands

Yo king, enlighten us please. You have obviously had some great success still hunting around the So Cal mountains. How do you do so quietly? Where I bowhunt, still hunting is all but out of the question as the ground is so noisy with oak leaves, acorns, twigs, etc. That is, unless it is raining or windy.

The best part of this hunt was Headstrong and I found two huge boars at first light he went left I went right and they all watched me shoot this boar on the run.

I love fishing, but even since I picked up my bow fishing has taken a back seat. I have not shot a big buck yet, but I am putting in the time. I have a couple of buddies that I hunt with just like you, nothing better. I wish you luck this year!

Let me help you think for a second, [ no disrespect sir ] you see the only thing I can do better than a buck it think.

Q. can a deer move through oak leave with out making noise ?

Q. can you move through oak leaves with out making noise?

The answer to both is no, so what kind of noise does a deer make? that's the key, the buck hears both, one sounds like a freight train, the other sounds like it could be a doe.

This buck heard me moving through ankle deep oak leaves but he thought I was maybe a doe so he started to move towards me and I was moving slow enough to hear him coming and got ready for a shot, at around 20yds he passed from my right to left looking for what he heard, it was to late double lung.
