I think we all know who is the MOST successful Bow Hunter on JHO, geez maybe the entire state of California.

Looking back at your post the other day of not seeing any deer and reading what someone posted about telling you to turn around etc is really comical now. You obviously know how to hunt as well as how to

Thank you King for the awesome and inspirational post. If you wrote a book on hunting, I would buy it!

I have a question if you may: How do you treat the full moon? The reason I ask is because I may be onto a decent buck, and am planning to go out on the weekend of the 26th. (full moon). I am wondering if I might be risking my hunt by being exposed on the stalk in/out. Should I wait for the following weekend?

Any input would be much appreciated.

I don't see a storm brewing. Just looking at some new folks and alot of pics. Seems like they are dialed in. Reminds me of when I lived in the northern A zone. I had my way with um. And, the piggies too. We need more fresh faces around here.

Great post

I'm sitting here sharpening my broadheads and getting a kick out of it.

Take off tomorrow first thing for 4 days up high.

If I'm lucky I'll post up a pic half as good as any of yours in this post.

Big_C your cracking me up fight on

beastslayer The longbow is Osage orange and clear glass by abbot here in so. cal.

DougH9 the full moon is on the 7th of Sept. and Oct.and the 5th of Nov. I don't put much stock in that stuff, If I got to choose I like no moon.

Family Tradition make it happen, every time you get out you get a playing card if you go out 10 times and I go out 30,40, 50 times I will always win it's the law.

Everyone has different goals some just want to shot a deer any deer and that's great, others want some thing to make book and still others are looking for the best there area has to offer.

As for goals go you are spot on.
My goal is always to take a good representation for the area.
That may be a big fork or a 190 class booker, depends where I am.

What I like most though is to locate a buck I like then hunt THAT buck and THAT buck only.
I found that buck in the A zone but have not taken him yet, found him 2 years ago and he's still out there. See him every other 3rd or so but he's that big and old for a reason.

Hunting that way is hard to do but when it works there is nothing better.

A few years ago I found a 150+ buck down here and I hunted him 17 days straight, I watched him breed does, kick the stuffing out of a giant 3x3, I had him one time @ 10 yds, no shot, brush was to thick, but I watched him pass buy right behind his girl friend, then he vanished, I learned so much from him it's price less

I always learn more by waiting and not taking a shot that if I shoot the first legal critter that happens into range.

I have passsed on 8 this season, hopefully I wont have to keep passing and will find "the One" on this nest trip.
